The colour a pixel is actually painted with: effects are authored in bright, saturated colours, and this pulls them into the world's palette (muted earth, grass and wood) — saturation down by a quarter, near-whites toned down and warmed, so an effect sits in the scene instead of glowing on top of it. Glints keep most of their lift.
